Thanks Andre. This helps confirm what i was thinking.
I could swear that once you went to 2 vcpu you could not get gains (if there are gains to be had) by going back to 1 vcpu.....hence always start with 1 and stick with 1 if at all possible.
I thought it was a vmware thing that was the limit...not necessarily a guest os thing, although i can see where a older guest os would come into play. I remember our instructor from my vcp class stating something like this as well although i cant find anything to back up the claim.
Anyway
In my situation now i have 2 vCPUs assigned. IF i add in cpuid.coresPerSocket and set it to 1, that would guaranty that im using 1 core from each of my 2 physical processors vs 2 cores from a single processor. I am not sure if there is any advantage to that or not.
