Booting from the Windows 2102 DVD/ISO as mentioned by mfelker will also help finding out whether the VM can see the disk and the OS at all, so that's definitely worth a try. What you may also do, is to take a look at the VM's vmware.log file, which should contain hints on what's going on. If you want, switch to the advanced editor (upper right of the edit box) and attach the latest vmware.log file to a reply post.
