I'm having some trouble with my setup.
I've got a mac mini (sw = osx 10.8.4, Fusion Professional 5.0.3), (hw = quad core i7, 16 gb ram, 2x 500 gb HDD original from apple). I was previously using the HDDs as separate disks but recently wanted to improve I/O performance, after seeing the dramatic difference that an SSD has made with my macbook pro (also running Fusion). I booted from a usb stick, established a RAID 0 with disk utility (I have no additional RAID hw or sw), and re-installed the OS on the array. I realize that I have no backup in case either of the disks fail, which is why I've got adequate backups.
I've had no problems so far, except with Fusion. I've just added a CentOS machine, and I get an error ...
"VMware Fusion has paused this virtual machine because the disk on which the virtual machine is stored is almost full. To continue, free an additional 1.2 GB if disk space."
I've got about 930 gb free on the RAID. Meanwhile, I've got a Win7 machine that is running fine on the RAID. So I'm torn, do I blow up the RAID and go back to two slower HDDs? Or can I fix this with hw or sw that is compatible with a mac mini?
